Lost vba references and adox conflict

I've been developing an Excel add-in and in my most recent version, key vba
references disappeared. My typical "build" process is to export all modules
and forms, delete them, save the .xls file. Open the .xls file reimport all
modules and forms and save the file as an .xla file. Perhaps, I should add
that periodically (1 in 30 times?), I can't save the .xla file and Excel
crashes in a way that requires it to be killed.

I am using ADO and ADOX and want the add-in to work on Excel 2000 or later
on Windows 2000 or later. So I'm using ADO 2.5 and ADOX 2.5 (instead of 2.8)
to make sure everything works on Windows 2000. Why doesn't ADOX appear in the
list of references? I have to browse to it and I also had. Also, ADOX has the
same file name for all versions, what is the best way to estbalish a
reference to the 2.5 version on my XP Pro SP 2 development machine ?

The ADO and ADOX is used because I use Access to manipulate data - I also
use the OWC spreadsheet version 9.
