Project Locked

I've seen other threads on this topic but have not yet seen a solution. My
workbook was locked and I managed to unlock it (and every worksheet). In the
VBA Editor, however, I cannot access the project. Any attempt to do so
results in the "Project Locked" message saying that it is unveiwable.

I know what the password is. But I cannot even get the properties box to
appear in an attempt to unlock it. Whatever I try gives me the same message.
What option do I have in editing this project? Thanks in advance.

I think it's the case that an earlier version of excel can't unlock a project
that was locjked by a later version. Try using the latest version of office
to unlock your project.

I cannot see that as the problem since I've always been using Excel 97 since
I started work here. While my system shows that I am using "Excel 97 SR-2",
is the "SR-2" referring to a service pack or a similar sort of update? If
so, can that effect the locking as well? Only if I created the application
under, say, "SR-1" and this effects the locking would the versions come into
play.

My problem is solved! It wasn't about versions but instead about sharing. I
had to turn sharing off before the project properties were accessible.

Thanks for mentioning why your project was locked as I was looking around for
the resolution to my locked project issue as well. It seems as though MS
doesn't have a KB article on this issue as I did a search for it. I'm using
XL02 and I also had to take off the shared property before I could view
anything within the project.
