Excel asks for addin password on exit
Hi!
I have developed an application that runs as an Excel (XP) addin. Recently I was adding some new features and I must have done something odd, because every time I exit Excel now, it asks me for the addin's password! It pops up a small dialog box with the title "XYZ password", where XYZ is my project's name. Here are some details: 1. When the "XYZ password" dialog appears, I can only proceed either by entering my project's protection password or by clicking on Cancel (or hitting Escape) 21 times (!!!) 2. The above occurs after Excel has disappeared from the taskbar as a running application but can still be found as a running process in the Task Manager. 3. I have inserted checkpoints throughout my cleanup code that runs when the application is closed (i.e. my Workbook_BeforeClose event handler) and I have made sure that the problem occurs after my addin has finished running ALL its code. 4. I have checked all the new code I have added and I'm quite certain there is nothing that could reasonably be related to this behavior. 4. My application has an Exit command that unloads itself through a ThisWorkbook.Close command, executing the same cleanup code as above. Inexplicably, when I do this and then exit Excel, everything is normal and no password request appears! 5. Once or twice, instead of asking me for my project's password, Excel asked for that of FUNCRES.XLA, its own Analysis ToolPak, which was loaded at the time. I am going crazy trying to figure out what can possibly be going on here. In the meantime, I can't very well release the application to the users and tell them to hit Cancel 21 times when they finish... Any ideas please? Thanks! |
