advanced filter using VBA

Can anyone help with this query:

Using VBA I want to be able to enable the user to filter on a selecte
range of data using an advanced filter with * signs.
For example they might enter "*vba*" to find any rows containing "vb
macro" or "vba example" etc.

For your information, the range of data is A1:G600 where the filtere
column is D.

Many thanks for your help.

Scott
