add-in folder ambiguity
I've got an add-in that works fine in 97 but goes wrong when used in 2003.
The problem is that the installation routine stores the add-in into C:\Documents and Settings\[login name]\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns by default (when the line Addins.Add([path]).Installed = True runs) but then files using the add-in expect it to be in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\Library. I can get around this by going to Edit, Links and changing the source to the alternative location but this is going to be a pain for all of the other files currently using the add-in (especially for other users who don't understand features like Edit, Links). M/soft Help says that Add-ins are stored in "either of these locations" - what I need is a way of specifying one or the other. Adding code to the installation routine to copy the add-in to both locations doesn't help because it's only read from one location anyway from the Tools, Add-ins list. Any ideas? |
