Excel 2K VBE hangs on open
 

I have had a lot of problems with VBE hanging when opening projects.

Early on I thought it was related to password protection, so I started
saving versions of worksheets as I was making changes without a
password. Everytime I change the project and save it, I name it v1.1,
v1.2, v1.3, etc.

Made some changes last week and saved it, now when I open the
worksheet and click on Tools/VBE it stops responding.

Win2K, SP4, Office 2K, SR-3.

When I look at task manager, I see EXCEL.EXE PID 2500 running at
99% - and it will run forever. I can kill that process and regain
control over Excel (which is running as excel.exe PID 2300).

Any ideas? Is this a common problem?

I wanted to add I've already tried opening this in safe
mode, it still hangs.... and this is not a password-
protected project.

I can open other projects with VBE just fine.
