How: Need 2 Copy sentences with commas & paste into one cell.
I am trying to copy text such as sentences with commas, for example:
The big, red, ball rolled down the steep, green hill. I need the entire sentence to be copied from one screen and pasted into ONE cell of my spreadsheet, but it always separates into a different cell where ever there is a comma. How can I prevent it from putting it into different cells? Thank you |

I am actually working in MS Works, but there are no discussion groups for
Works that I see, so I chose to post here. Alot of things that apply to Excel also work in Works, but unfortunately this one did not. I tried what you suggested but it didn't work. The paragraph still split at the commas. Any other ideas as to how to stop this? Thanks, Jennifer "Frank Kabel" wrote: Hi - copy your data - in Excel select a cell, hit F2 and paste the data DIRECTLY in the formula bar -- Regards Frank Kabel Frankfurt, Germany "jbaker38" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... Dave,
Yes, I am sure that I pasted directly into the formula bar, but it didn't work. However, I don't know what you mean by "done a data|text to columns and used delimited by a comma". How do I accomplish this? Please speak laymens terms to me as I am by no means a programmer or even polished in any type of spreadsheet application. Thanks for your help. jbaker "Dave Peterson" wrote: I don't use works, but in excel if you've done a data|text to columns and used delimited by a comma, you get the same results as you wrote. One solution is to close excel and reopen, then repaste. Can you try that in Works? And are you sure you pasted directly into the formula bar (with Frank's suggestion)? jbaker38 wrote: I am actually working in MS Works, but there are no discussion groups for Works that I see, so I chose to post here. Also, I have tried to post this question to the office discussion board, but
I can't seem to post anywhere at all except to reply to this thread. Every time I try to start a new thread it gives me a little icon with a "no" circle on it. Why can't I post? In excel, there's an option on the worksheet menubar that allows you to separate
text into columns. It's under the Data|Text to columns menu. I have no idea if Works has this feature. jbaker38 wrote: Dave, Yes, I am sure that I pasted directly into the formula bar, but it didn't work. Try pasting this into MSIE.
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.works.win I'm hoping that MSIE opens Outlook Express and connects to a works newsgroup. (I don't use the MS Communities Web Interface (CDO).) Or you may want to search google inside that newsgroup: http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search specify: *works* in the "Return only messages from the newsgroup" box jbaker38 wrote: Also, I have tried to post this question to the office discussion board, but I can't seem to post anywhere at all except to reply to this thread.
