Editing a protected sheet
Hi All,
My requirement is that users should be able to edit a cell in a protected work sheet. Currently, when a user tries to edit the cell the content of the cell goes off. Any help is appreciated. I am running Excel 2000. Thanks, Govind. |

Hi
- first select this cell before protecting the sheet - goto 'Format - Cells - Protection' and uncheck 'Locked' - now protect your sheet -----Original Message----- Hi All, My requirement is that users should be able to edit a cell in a protected work sheet. Frank,
Thanks for your reply, I do have that cell unlocked. My problem is user should be able to edit the cell, user can enter anything into the cell as of now but when they try to edit the content entered by them the cell is cleared automatically and they have to enter the complete text again. I hope I am clear in my requirement. Thanks, Govind. "Frank Kabel" wrote in message ... Editing a protected sheet
If I understand correctly, you are saying that the contents of the
cell are being overwritten when your user selects it and begins inputing new data. This is the default behavior of Excel. To edit existing text in a cell, you can either double-click the cell's contents to establish your cursor position in the existing text, or you can click the cell and press "F2" to position your cursor at the end of the existing text. Editing a protected sheet
Jay,
When the user presses F2 to edit the cell, the content of the cell clears if the sheet is protected. Is there a way to avoid this? Thanks, Govind. "JayJ" wrote in message om...
