match and/or index
I wrote a macro that merges our master parts inventory file with an
update file containing new prices or changed specifications. The macro pastes the worksheet containing the new data onto the master file worksheet then sorts by part number. When duplicate part numbers are found, the macro extracts any new information from the update file and incorporates it into the master file. I'm afraid I'll exceed xl's size limitation of 65536 rows using this cut and paste approach. How can I keep the master sheet separate from the new data sheet and still incorporate the updated information? I do not know how to code the Match and/or Index functions. Thanks |

If you're concerned about record volumes, you might
consider MS Access. The merging could be done with outer join queries instead of a macro.
