Comparing two workbooks
Hi,
I have two workbooks each with around 20 worksheets in them. The names of the worksheets are identical. Each worksheet has 13 columns with about 50 rows of data. One workbook is the original workbook, the second has been modified by the client. We could not use the track changes feature because of the shared facility being used and other issues. We thoroughly investigated that option first. We now need to identify which rows on which sheet contain changed data. The data could be simply changed,or it could be deleted or added rows. I have thought of importing into acces then running a query but hope that there migt be a VBA way of looping through the rows comparing one book to the other. I have been trying rowdifferences, but this does not seem to be the right use of that command. Any thoughts gratefully received. Regards David C |
Comparing two workbooks
Hi
Use a third new workbook and put in a formula like =[original]sheet1!a1 = [altered]sheet1!a1. Copy down and across as required. This boolean test will show if there are differences. Once the first sheet is corrected, then apply to the second sheet etc. Tony -----Original Message----- Hi, I have two workbooks each with around 20 worksheets in them.
