safely open file
Hi.
If I have just uploaded an Excel file to my computer from a user, I would like to use code to open it and scan it for some information without risk of infecting my computer with a virus or similar problem. Is there a way to open the file with the disable macros option? Will this leave me "safe" from viruses, or are there additional steps necessary? Alternatively, does anyone know of any antivirus software that makes a library available so that I could scan the file before opening it? Thanks in advance! -Casey |

Hold down the shift key while you open the file
or before opening Turn security to High on Tools =Macro=Security (I believe is the location). -- Regards, Tom Ogilvy "C Williams" wrote in message news:wx72d.6699$yJ3.286@trndny08... Hi.
