I need to lookup a value in a range that is not sorted.
Vlookup doesn't seem to do the job. I couldn't get Match
to do it either. How can I do that?

Have you tried using 0 or FALSE as the third argument?
ie
=VLOOKUP(item,range,FALSE)
?

Return email address is not as DEEP as it appears
