Tom

Is there anyone out there that can help me?

Thank you for reviewing this!

I have created a pivot table/chart workbook that I need
to save as a template. The source data is local without
any external links. However, when I save the workbook as
a template file, it asks the following question regarding
external data:

"This workbook contains external data. Do you want MS
Office Excel to clear the data before saving the
template, and then automatically refresh the data
whenever the template is opened?"

Is this standard XL logic for a pivot table template even
when there is no external data and is there a way to
eliminate having the msg show up?

Thanks,
Tom

The Pivot "External data" is coming from the worksheet. So, yes, this is
Excel default behavior. You cannot disable it when saving the template, but
you can disable it from the xlt by answering "yes".

Sorry, I meant answering "No" not "Yes".
