Display Excel file in Internet - an interesting question
Hi all Excel/IE programming Gurus,
I developed one Excel 2000 application (has several PivotTables/PivotCharts, all these tables download their data from SQL Server 2000 DB). Although the project works fine as a stand along application, but after I put this application online (simple provide a link to it and view this Excel file by IE 6.0), sometimes I got problems. --I can not put this file in a frameset --Some class function not work properly It seems I have to "Refresh" the whole web page to solve those problems. I searched online and heard:"As Excel file is NOT native web files (Like html or asp file), so avoid use Excel file display in Web page as possible as you can" Is this Excel/IE statement true or false? What I am concerned is, as we use net more and more often and we have a lot of Excel (.xls) files, what can/can't we do to make Excel avaliable in Internet/Intranet? I know one can convert Excel file to html file first then display online, but in doing so (converting) you will lose a lot features Excel provide. What I want is put Excel file online straight away. Any relavent article/source please recommond to me. Thanks in advance. Kind Regards, Charles |
