how to roll/scroll/log (??) real-time data ?
In cell A1 I have a DDE-link to a real-time data source.
Works fine, however instead of having this one cell update each time the value changes, I'd like to "log" (roll? scroll? I don't know how to call this) the previous data to cell A2 etc., in time building column A with all past values that occurred. Stock market programs do this effortlessly (like when building "time and sales" sheets) but I just cannot figure it out. Should be some standard command I'd say, or does this require high-end programming? Thanks!! |

Look at Stephen Bullen's site
http://www.BMSLTD.ie in theleft side menu go to Stephen's Excel page. Look through the items there. He has a sample workbook that does what you describe using intentional circular references. -- Regards, Tom Ogilvy "joni" wrote in message ... In cell A1 I have a DDE-link to a real-time data source. You need to use the ActiveWorkBook.SetLinkOnData method to cause Excel to automatically run a subroutine every time the data from the DDE Link is updated by the DDE Server. The subroutine would simply read the Value property of the cell containing the DDE Link and write it to the bottom of a column somewhere else in the worksheet. For an example, visit: http://www.taltech.com/support/dde_sw/ddeexcel504.htm On Fri, 6 Aug 2004 14:01:33 -0700, "joni" wrote: In cell A1 I have a DDE-link to a real-time data source.
