extracting from "show pages" pivot tables
Hello,
I've run a "show pages" from a pivot table in excel and so now have more than 100 individual spreadsheet pivot tables for numerous countries from the original pivot table in the workbook. The analysis has been done on these individual country pivot table spreadsheets, and now I'd like to extract specific lines of data from each of the pages (ultimately, I'd like to be able to create a smaller dataset of just these data lines from the original larger dataset). Is there some way that I could "mark" or "flag" these data lines in the individual country spreadsheet pages and then make a mass extraction from all of the "show page" pivot tables at one time? How would you suggest would be the best way to do this? Your suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you. I assume you want summarized data. I think the easiest way would be to go
back to the original pivot table and drag that page field to be the leftmost row field. If you want a subset of the values, then click the down arrow of the field and unselect the ones you don't want. -- Regards, Tom Ogilvy "Anne Nasser" wrote in message ... extracting from "show pages" pivot tables
Dear Tom and others, Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I should clarify a bit more about the extraction. For example, say I have an excel workbook with 10 spreadsheet pages. In each spreadsheet, there is a dataset such as: name birthday city Jack 24 October Utah Allen 3 March Los Angeles Mary 15 January Orlando Kim 9 February New York The datset in each of the 10 pages is similar to the above but with different names and other information. Say in the first spreadsheet, I wanted to extract the whole data line for both Jack and Kim. In the second spreadsheet, I wanted to extract the data lines for John and Jeff (it could be any names). And in each of the spreadsheets, there is a different set of names for which I want to extract the whole data line. There are numerous data lines for selected names that I would like to extract throughout the 10 spreadsheets in the workbook. Is there some way that I could somehow identify or mark (ie. by color or something) the names or datalines that I want to extract in all the spreadsheets and be able to extract all those lines in one step to make a small dataset of all the selected lines in the workbook? How would you suggest is the best way to do this, especially when there are nearly 50 spreadsheets with lines of data to extract in the workbook? Thanks, and looking forward to your suggestions.
