Default new to excel help me

1234 1234
3456 ****
12555 33333


i am starting to do some basic monthly accounts for my part time jo
can some one tell me the formula so that i can add 3456 to 1234 and ge
result ****and then add **** to 1255 to get 33333 etc and then at th
end get a sum at the end of column b,just like a bank statemen

Hi there,

Presuming 1234 as in A1 and B1, then the formula:

=B1+A2

entered into B2 will give you 4690.

If you then go to cell B2 and use the menu item Edit / Copy (a little square
should appear around cell B2). Move the cursor to B3 and with the left
mouse button down drag the formula down as far as needed. Release the mouse
and use the menu for Edit / Paste. Your formula should propagate down as
needed.

BTW there are other ways of doing this, but this way is nice and easy!
