I have a project that requires 500+ fields (i.e. columns)
per record. Any suggestion on working around the 255
limit of Excel??

Use the right tool for the job? Access would probably be much better.

Secondly, I question that you *really* need 500 fields. You have design issues.

You are stuck with the 256 columns per sheet.

Split the data over multiple sheets or use a different product like Quattro
Pro which will allow many more columns.
