calculate shares for heirs at law
Theresa,
If you need to be able to deal with an arbitrary number of generations, a class module and some VBA code may be the way go. I've seen a lots of examples on the Internet that deal with genealogy, with parent/child relationships etc that you could edit to include some montary value property. NickHK "Theresa Wright" wrote in message ... does anyone have a calculation for shares for heirs at law? for instance, mrs smith dies, mr smith dies. no will. four children, one deceased with three children. so child 1 gets 1/4, child 2 1/4, child 3 1/4, grandchild 1, 2, 3 each share their deceased parent's 1/4th share, which is 1/12 each. this example is very very simple. i have a set spanning six generations with tons of deceased and living. which is why i need a spreadsheet calculation for this. |
