Does Outlook interfere with Excel memory assignments?

Excel runs significantly more slow when a (mostly empty) Outlook is
open. I have not timed the difference scientifically, but Excel
calculates significantly faster when outlook is closed -- even with
multiple other programs open.

Is this a known observation? Just curious.

I have recently found that I can perform stored queries but not create new
ones until I have closed Outlook - Office2K/Win2K

In Outlook, go to Tools - Options and the Preferences Tab. Click on the
Journal Options button. Uncheck everything.
