excel problem

I am able to open excel and create documents but when i
try to read excel documents the area where the actual
document is located is a blank grey screen.
The toolbars at the top of the screen
(file,edit,view,insert etc) are almost all greyed out
when drop downs appear.

How are you reading Excel documents? Are you trying to run them from Windows
Explorer?

Perhaps you've got the 'ignore other applications' option selected?
