Excel VBD DDEInitiate problem
Hi there,
I'am using a script with the DDEInitiate command. The DDE communication is over a network and it's working fine. My command look's like this; Channel = DDEInitiate ("\\PCName\ApplName","Topic") I want to put the IP adress instead of the PCName ex: Channel = DDEInitiate ("\\10.131.34.5\ApplName","Topic") This is not working, why ???? Any idea someone. Thank -- Message posted from http://www.ExcelForum.com |

Excel VBD DDEInitiate problem
In my experience:
The first step I use when trying to initiate a DDE conversation is to make sure I can ping the computer name, that is acting as the DDE server. Computer names have to be resolved to IP adresses thru a DNS or WINS server. I have tried to resolve names using a host file - which will resolve the name under a ping statement but will not work to resolve the name under DDE. Good luck "Bill Renaud" wrote in message ...
