Compile error in hidden module error

Hi,
Each time I open Excel I get this error
compile error in hidden module: autoexecnew

I have tried the following link and it does not fix it.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;307410
Any ideas.

Thanks,
Melissa

unselect any addins you have selected. Move files out of your xlstart
directory.

if it goes away, start putting things back one at a time

Before you do it, try opening excel in safe mode. Go to the windows start
menu, select run, type in

excel.exe /s

and hit OK. if the message doesn't come up, then procede with the above.
(excel should be closed for moving things from the xlstart directory).

Tom,
Out of interest, how is Excel's Safe Mode different to normal mode ?

It doesn't load addins or files in the xlstart directory.
