Markus,
If I understand you correctly, no, a cell cannot hold the value and a formula. It can only hold one. You would need to put the formula in an adjacent cell, or if it was a consistent rule (such as multiply the input by 20) then you could VBA worksheet change event. -- HTH Bob Phillips ... looking out across Poole Harbour to the Purbecks (remove nothere from the email address if mailing direct) "max" wrote in message ... hello i want to know, if it is possible to compute a function in same cell where I insert the variable. ex: Cell A1: = x * 20 //where x is the variable to insert. best regards Markus |

Hi
only possible if you use VBA (process the worksheet change event). I would recommend using an adjacent cell to store the formula result -- Regards Frank Kabel Frankfurt, Germany max wrote: hello i want to know, if it is possible to compute a function in same cell where I insert the variable. ex: Cell A1: = x * 20 //where x is the variable to insert. best regards Markus |

I knew the second alternative, but I think that the second is better too. I would just know, if it is possible or not. Markus |
