Worksheet Controls

I am setting up a worksheet form where a user will make selections from option buttons and check boxes. The users selections will then be used as input to VBA code to perform certain calculations based on the selected inputs. I have been adding option buttons and check boxes onto the worksheet from the controls toolbox and have noticed some odd behaviour

Once design mode is off, selecting an option button appears to make it's resolution higher, i.e. the circle becomes less blocky and the black "selected" circle in the middle becomes larger. If I then click elsewhere and the focus is off of the option button the button becomes blocky again and the central black circle shrinks in size and resolution to end up looking like a small plus sign

Does anybody know why this behaviour is occuring and if there is any way around it. The small "plus signs" are too small and difficult to see.
