Toolbars
 

I created a custom toolbar in excel and now I want to
share it with other users. I want this toolbar to open by
default everytime excel opens. Any ideas?

I've researched this and have been playing with using
personal.xls and know that the toolbars are stored in the
excel.xlb.

Jacob,

Personal.xls is not best if you want to share it, that is best done by way
of an addin.

The way I do it is to dynamically build the toolbar in the Workbook_Open
event, and remove it in the Workbook_Close event. An addin will be opened
each time Excel starts, so it will always be available as long as the addin
is installed.

Examples of commandbars on my website.
Note the use of Temporary, which is the way you want to go if you're using
Add-In Open/Close events.

IMO temporary should be used for all custom commandbars, addin or not, that
are created on open.

That's my opinion too.. Workbook_Open / _Close and Temporary for all.

Quick question: do the controls need to be Temporary if it's commandbar is
already?

Rob,

I don't think so. I never set them so, on the basis that as they are part of
the commandbar, they cannot exist in splendid isolation. I have always
worked upon the basis that you only make a control temporary if the
commandbar stays, but that particular control won't. I have only ever done
this once.
