counting functions
 

i have seem numerous examples of counting functions in
excel like countif.

what would be a good example of why i would need to use
this function? seeking ideas of how this function would
help me in any reporting or calculating.

Very useful to calculate how many times an item is listed in a range

in my example this formula =COUNTIF(A2:A20,"a") counts how many cells
have only the letter a in them.
