Excel file embedded in Word doc--limitations of work area

Hello All:
Does anyone know why when you embed an Excel file in a word document, only a certain number of columns and rows show up? I can't seem to increase it beyond a few rows and columns. I've tried to drag the Excel area, this only made the columns bigger. I've tried to highlight the printed area in Excel, etc. nothing seems to work. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Right-click the object, Worksheet Object, Edit
Resize it from there.

This could be related to the way Excel is cut off when pasted into
PowerPoint.
