ODBC Links in Excel XP

I posted this message on to the Excel "Links" newsgroup
last week but received no feedback. Am hoping the
the "experts" on the programming newgroup may be able to
offer some advice!!!!

A couple of months ago I developed an Excel file which
links directly to two data tables within an accounting
system via an ODBC link. In MS Query the two data tables
are linked and are filtered before being sent to MS
Excel. This process worked well and still works very will
on the original computer

The user has recently purchased a new computer. When I
tried to re-establish the ODBC link I encountered a
problem. The data from the two data tables is coming
across to MS Query OK but when it is being sent to MS
Excel the connection fails. The software house that
supports the ODBC link have tested this process thoroughly
and are confident that the problem lies with the machine
rather than the ODBC link.

The exact error message that is posted says,

[TOD] [ODBC] [UNKNOWN] Network Connection lost (Recv):
ErrorNo:10004.

Has anyone any ideas how I may attempt to remedy this
problem or can identify where the possible problem may
lie??

Regards, Ciara

Just to rule out the new configuration, create a new work sheet and get
external data using the ODBC configuration. If it returns data, then the
problem is within the original worksheet.

Is it possible that the new computer has the latest Excel XP (2003) and the
original was created on Excel XP (2002)?

I had similar problems with a worksheet created on Excel XP and distributed
to users with Excel 2000.

ODBC Links in Excel XP

The worksheet was developed in Excel 2000.

I have also tried on a number of occasions to import the
two joined data tables into a new worksheet in Excel XP
but the error message will still occur?

Should I try re-installing Office?

Thanks for replying.
