file writing

if I use "Open for output" and "print #" for writing my data, and the
computer is rebooted whilst in the middle "before close #" had been
executed, I am undecided as to whether the file is buffered and some may
be lost, or whether it's written on a line by line basis anyway

The only test I have done is to shut excel down forcing it to not run
close # and the last record written is there. I think rebooting the
computer whilst the program is running may be a different matter though
