Is this a macro or a function?
g'morning everybody... i don't know if you need a macro for this; maybe a simple function wil do but i haven't been able to figure it out... i have column R which contains model #s i have column S which contains product descriptions (tv, audio, etc... for the model # in column R on the same worksheet i have BD through BX which is the prod. desc again (so basically 21 products/columns) what i was trying to figure out is if there's a way when i type th prod. desc. in S, then it's corresponding R will appear in BD throug BX... example: column R column S tv123 TV cd999 Audio and so on... BW is also TV now, and i'd like for the cell in R (tv123) to appea under BW then i type in TV in S i hope i explained well enough... thanks in advance ----------------------------------------------- ~~ Message posted from http://www.ExcelTip.com ~~View and post usenet messages directly from http://www.ExcelForum.com |
Is this a macro or a function?
Hi
I *think* this is what you ask for When you type 'TV' in column S, you want 'tv123' to appear in column B an When you type 'Audio' in column S, you want 'cd999' to appear in column (for example) B and so o If that is the case, you could put this function in column BW (replacing '2' with the number of the row you are currently editing) =IF(S2="TV",R2, "" This function says: If the contents of S2 is 'TV' then show whatever is in R2, else show nothing Drag the function all the way down in column BW of your worksheet. For column BX you would us =IF(S2="Audio",R2, "" And so on, each column would check for a different value in S I did not understand your second message - sorr hth |
