I use a simple web query (set it up from Excel) to download stock quotes off

Suppose it depends on what you mean by Excel like, simply maintaining
a record, or the ability to create your own reports with calculations and charts. Quicken (Intuit) and Microsoft Money will download and store stock information for stocks for each day. They have their own reports and charts and the data from a report can be Trying to do that with a spreadsheet would be unreasonable.
