insert rows

I'm using Excel 2000.
The problem:
1. Multiple widget references (i.e. cell contains "R1-R3,
R5") are in one row with various information in other
columns.

My goal:
1. I want to insert X amount of rows (insert 3 in this
case) with identical information (except for the widget
references).

2. Then change the widget references to include one
reference per row (i.e. 1st row = R1, 2nd = R2, 3rd = R3,
4th = R5)

I'm not a savvy programmer. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott, (posted with courtesy email copy)
You question might more sense if you used some actual cell
references instead of ambiguous references that happen to look
like cell references. But as Jill indicated succinctly "Your request
is unintelligible".

Part of being a programmer is the ability to define and solve a
problem.

I would suggest looking at
Insert a Row using a Macro to maintain formulas
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/insrtrow.htm

Along with looking at macro solutions you should know how to
insert rows manually, and how to use the fill-handle. Including
using the Ctrl key with the fill-handle. May or may not help you
with the macro but it will sure make you appreciate a macro
solution.

You will get the best use out of newsgroups if you take the time
to ask a question that does not need to be further
explained. You will get an example of what I mean In my
comments on the above page, to how I got help with what I wanted.

Please keep conversation in newsgroup. Email copy was included
because there are or have been some problems with newsgroups
lately.
