Problems with SendMail or automation of Send To
I am having trouble and I hope someone can help. I am trying to email single
worksheets out of a workbook to individual stores and automate the whole thing. If I manually select the worksheet and use File - Send To - Mail Recipient, the worksheet is sent perfectly. I cannot find a way to automate this function so I attempted to use SendMail instead. Whenever I attempt to send something using SendMail, a box appears off the left side of my screen with a message saying "A program is trying to automatically send e-mail on your behalf. Do you want to allow this?" This message, according to the Microsoft knowledge base is due to a security update I installed and is designed to prevent a virus from using my address book to send out viruses. OK , great, I understand and agree. However, I can't find a solution to the problem. I need to automate the sending of a report to each of my stores on Sunday when no one is here. I have tried to automate faxing, but that is an inelegant solution and using Microsoft fax, I can't figure out how to manipulate the box that asks for recipients name and fax number. I would prefer to use e-mail anyway because then I wouldn't have to worry about the quality of the received report. I am sure that I am just missing something simple. Can anyone make any suggestions or offer any solutions or provide a way to automate File - Send To - Mail ? I thank you in advance. Doug |

I'd start with Ron de Bruin's and Dick Kusleika's sites. They have lots of code
examples some code that might help you get started: http://www.rondebruin.nl/sendmail.htm http://www.dicks-clicks.com Douglas Wills wrote: I am having trouble and I hope someone can help. "Ron de Bruin" wrote in message ... Try this site Douglas http://www.rondebruin.nl/sendmail.htm http://www.rondebruin.nl/sendmail.htm#Prevent Thanks for the response. I actually tried a couple of examples on your site and they all require the same manual intervention. According to the Microsoft website, this problem is a direct result of "patches" that MS released to help plug holes that could be attacked by a hacker. Unfortunately, they describe the problem but don't provide a work around. Oh well, I'll keep looking. -Doug |

Ron and Jake,
Thanks for your response. Now that I have reread the text in question, it obviously solves my problem. Unfortunately, when I started reading the information on Ron's site originally, it looked like it addressed my needs. Then, when I started reading under "How to prevent displaying the dialog...", it seemed to only address Outlook Express which I don't use. Obviously, in my haste to find a solution, I had simply stopped reading before finishing the text in that area or I would have noticed the link. My fault. Ron, I really appreciate the work you have put into addressing this issue. If I might make a suggestion, for boneheaded people like me, you may want to place another larger, bold heading that shows the solution for Outlook. Not that you have to mind you. Obviously, it's my fault that I didn't finish reading. Just a thought. Thanks Doug |

Hi Douglas

Not I will do that Do you know how many mails I get from people that think that OE and Outlook are the same program. That was a big mistake from Microsoft to use the word Outlook in both programs Thanks -- Regards Ron de Bruin (Win XP Pro SP-1 XL2002 SP-2) www.rondebruin.nl "Douglas Wills" wrote in message ...
