Wheel mouse no longer scrolls in VB Editor

Hello,
This is more of an annoyance than anything else, but the
wheel on my mouse has stopped scrolling in VB Editor. It
still works fine in all other applications (including
Excel). I looked at the mouse settings, and couldn't
find anything that even remotely looked like it could be
effecting it. It started after we migrated from NT4 to
XP. Any ideas on how (or if) I can get the wheel working
in VB Editor again?

Thanks,
Mike Lee

Mike,

We had a discussion in this NG a few weeks ago..
and to my utter amazement ...

Logitech mice (with standard windows or logitech mouseware drivers)
will NOT scroll in VBE

But you can download Intellipoint (Microsoft mousedrivers)
and they will allow VBE scrolling with Logitech hardware

As a word of warning, the Logitech mice do scroll with intellipoint
installed, but intellipoint disables the older drivers, i.e. the itouch
stuff from Logitech. The result is that you bought an expensive keyboard and
no longer have all the extra function keys working. If you find a solution
that gives you the mouse wheel in vb and your keyboard drivers, please post
back.

Wheel mouse no longer scrolls in VB Editor

Hi all,

Although this is not a programming question, I take the chance to jump in here
as this thread relates to a problem I've tried to solve for months.

I can't install the Intellipoint software on one of my Win2000 systems because I
can't get rid of the present mouse software.
The installation program itself seems to work, but after rebooting after the
installation, a very rudimentary mouse control is automatically installed. It
doesn't support a wheel mouse at all.

What happens is:
1. I run the Intellipoint installer
2. I reboot as prompted after the installation
3. when rebooting, some automatic installation process is automatically started,
there are no prompts or dialogs. When it is finished, I am prompted to reboot
again
4. after the second reboot, there I am with the same old mouse software

When looking in the Device Manager/Mouse it says I have a "Logitec PS/2 Port
Mouse", which I don't. I have an "IntelliMouse 1.1A PS/2 Compatible".

I have deleted the mouse both from Add/Remove Hardware and from the Device
Manager before installing Intellipoint. I also found a mouse-related "Run"-item
in the Registry, which i deleted, but the d***n thing keeps coming back.

I have tried Intellipoint 4.0 and 4.1 - no difference. No problems at all with
my other Win2K box.

Any ideas?

Best regards,
Anders Silvén

the intellipoint driver did the trick, i can scroll
again...

now here's the really weird part. i had posted last week
about VB editor not "seeing" new workbooks. i could
access modules, etc., in old workbooks, but if the
workbook didn't have a macro or vb module already in it,
i couldn't get it to appear in the projects window. when
i rebooted after installing the intellipoint driver, that
problem appears to be fixed now as well....(i have no
idea how a mouse driver could effect that).

also, i don't have an itouch keyboard, so i'm not worried
about that functionality. i'll keep an eye out though,
and if i hear anything, i'll post a solution.

thanks a million for the suggestions. i really
appreciate the help.

Mike,

Had a similar problem and fixed it by just reloading the software that came
with the mouse.

Already had the most current driver on there, but I tried
reinstalling it anyway. Didn't fix it.

Thanks anyway. I can definitely live without it, I've
just grown into the force of habit of using it.
