Personal.xls in the startup folder must stay open for recording
 

Does this sound familiar to anyone:

Trying to record a macro in personal.xls (for the first time since the
installation of OfficeXP on a brand new notebook) results in this error
message:

Personal Macro Workbook in the startup folder must stay open for recording.

I surely have never seen this one before, ever.
