File from an Informix database to import into Excel

Text files don't contain formatting information.

(well, unless you do something neat and add some text that you can use later to
determine/set formatting.)

But I think I'd record a macro when I opened that workbook, do all the
formatting, print setup, filters, and so forth.

Then whenever I wanted to import that text file, I'd open up that macro workbook
and Tools|Macro|Macros... and run that macro.

The file includes text, data, and some formulas. So far this works just
fine.

I would like to also include some simple cell formatting like text alignment
("center" especially), number format (two decimal places), and column width.
It would also be "nice" to include font size and font style attributes like
"bold" or "italics."

I cannot find anything in the Excel help file that deals with this.

Can this be done? If so, how?

I am using Excel 97 but could upgrade to XP if necessary. I am currently
using a tab-delimited format but could use something else if necessary--as
long as it is text.
