Data Validation Again
why are you using a cutom enrty?
You simply want someboy to choose a value form the list, so set the datavalidation to LIST and in the source type =valList Patrick Molloy Microsoft Excel MVP -----Original Message----- Hi all, I have the following Data Validation as per a reply to my ptrev query Step1: Create a defined name for the list on sheet2 (for the example i made it a dynamic name, but it could be fixed ) valList =OFFSET(IncomeData!$D$1,1,0,COUNTA(IncomeData! D:D)-1) Step2: Define Validation on Sheet Income for Cell $c$7 as custom: =COUNTIF(valList;$D$7)=0 and I have error Message to say "That Number already entered" when I enter a number which already exists in my ValList it gives me my custom error mesage with two buttons "OK" and "CANCEL" and when I select Ok it accepts the number and moves to the next cell instead of not accepting that number ..???!!!! what would be the possible cause? TIA Soniya . |
