Updating remote references.

Hi,

I'd appreciate some help or an answer on this one.

I've created a remote reference to another workbook to bring in the date
from a financial period calendar.

I.e. ='c:\[sample.xls]Sheet1'A1

I've enabled the 'update remote references' option in the tools, options
menu but the reference doesn't update unless the target workbook is
currently open.

Is this something that I can resolve or just a quirk of ExcelXP.

Please let me know.

Many thanks, Darren.

Maybe you toggled a setting that's new to xl2002.

Edit|Links|StartUp Prompt button
Do you have "don't display the alert and don't update automatic links" checked?

Hi,

I got the "Let users choose to display the alert or not" option checked.

Does this mean that it should prompt me? If I check the "Don't display alert
and update the links" will this automatically update the remote reference?

Please let me know.

Cheers, Darren.
