Removing Macro Virus Warnings Upon File Open
I've got a file where upon opening it, it always gives the
option to enable or disable the macro. It has a macro I created that is safe, so I want to remove this option. I've tried to: 1) Change the macro security (It's on Medium) The file won't save when I select anything else.... 2) Checked Always Trust Source/Add-Ins 3) Looked into digital signature. We don't have one that is certitified, so I don't have one to assign. We do have virus detection and the macro security indicates that we don't. (This is an XP compatability issue from what I've read) Thanks ahead to anyone having ideas that can help. : ) |

look for a program SelfCert.exe on your computer.
if it's not there.. rerun Office Installation select Change add or remove Features goto Office Shared Features and Select Digital Signatures for VBA Projects it will install SelfCert. once it's installed just run it and create your own DigSig. keepITcool < email : keepitcool chello nl (with @ and .) < homepage: http://members.chello.nl/keepitcool "Wendy" wrote: I've got a file where upon opening it, it always gives the option to enable or disable the macro. Removing Macro Virus Warnings Upon File Open
I have an add-in that creates a menu. One of the menu
items opens a workbook with macros. No matter what my security settings, Excel doesn't notify me that the workbook I'm opening contains macros, and it doesn't ask me if I want to enable them. The macros are enabled automatically. Is this normal? Any ideas why this happens? -----Original Message----- Here is some additional information. Note that certification only works in Excel 2000 and later. Just a reality check, if you could turn this off because your macro is safe, couldn't a virus author turn it off as well. That is why this is not supported. Even with certification, the user has accept you as a trusted source the first time they open the file. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp? url=/library/en-us/dnoxpta/html/odc_dsvba.asp Code Signing Office XP Visual Basic for Applications Macro Projects http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;Q288985 XL2002: About Digital Signatures in Excel Workbooks http://support.microsoft.com/?KBID=206637 OFF2000: Overview of Digital Certificates (Q206637) http://support.microsoft.com/?KBID=217221 OFF2000: Using SelfCert to Create a Digital Certificate for VBA Projects (Q217221) An Overview: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp? url=/library/en-us/dnimo00/html/combat.asp Another reference: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en- us/odeopg/html/deovrsigningvbaproject.asp http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;Q329228 OFFXP: How to Make Sure That Your Office Document Has a Valid Digital Signature http://office.microsoft.com/assistan...articles/otell digitalcertiftrustworthy.aspx How to Tell if Digital Certificate Is Trustworthy in Office XP Regards, Tom Ogilvy "keepitcool" wrote in message .. . look for a program SelfCert.exe on your computer. if it's not there.. rerun Office Installation select Change add or remove Features goto Office Shared Features and Select Digital Signatures for VBA Projects it will install SelfCert. once it's installed just run it and create your own DigSig. keepITcool < email : keepitcool chello nl (with @ and .) < homepage: http://members.chello.nl/keepitcool "Wendy" wrote: I've got a file where upon opening it, it always gives the option to enable or disable the macro.
