vb is an abbreviation of visual basic.

The macro language in Excel is Visual Basic for Applications
or VBA and there's a ton of stuff available both in print
and on the web

Ensure that the help files for VBA are installed (you may need to rerun
the office install) and start by browsing them

A google search for

excel vba tutorial

Will yield plenty of material.
