grey ghost toolbars in Excel

Maybe deleting your Excel.xlb file helps?

You can probably find it in the Windows directory.

Sometimes I get a ghost-grey sidebar when paging between
sheets in my
Excel application. It occludes part of the sheet display,

as you move from sheet to sheet. At one time, I
identified this as a
PivotTable FieldList. A macro to move to a Pivot table
sheet, display
the PivotTable toolbar, set and unset the FieldList
removed the
problem (though ugly). More recently, it didn't work,
and I needed to
close and reopen Excel. Is there a general way of
ensuring this
doesn't happen, or at least of reliably fixing it if it
does?
