How do I get Excel to open with automatic calculations active?

Have a 2003 Excel set-up on a computer in Africa that opens all workbooks
with the "Manual Calculations" box checked. We change to "Automatic" when
the book is opened, but would like to be able to set the default to this. We
have probably forty copies of Excel active, but this is the only one giving
us the problem. Any suggestions?

Excel picks up this setting from the first workbook you open in that session.
If you have a workbook that is shared between lots of folks, maybe one of them
opened, changed that setting and then saved the workbook.

And you just happened to open that workbook first.
