prepares to re- install Office and I get error message 1312

I can't open Excel b/c every time I click it on, it prepares to attempt
installation of Office. I get error mesage 1312 saying to change name or
delete XL start up file.
This is real strange b/c other Office programs are fine--Powerpointt., Word,
etc.
Any help would be great...
