autofilter - how many in a group
I have autofilter on a column and there are about 100 separate groups.
Is there a quick and easy way of finding out how many members there are of individual groups? Thanks Chris |

Maybe you could use a pivottable and use Count as the operation.
Add a single row of headers (if you don't have them now) Select the whole range Data|Pivottable follow the wizard until you get to the step with a Layout button. Click that button Drag the Group Header button to the row field drag the Group header button to the data area If you don't see "Count of", double click on it and choose count And finish up the wizard. If you want to read more about pivottables... Here are a few links: Debra Dalgleish's pictures at Jon Peltier's site: http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Pivots/pivottables.htm And Debra's own site: http://www.contextures.com/xlPivot01.html John Walkenbach also has some at: http://j-walk.com/ss/excel/files/general.htm (look for Tony Gwynn's Hit Database) Chip Pearson keeps Harald Staff's notes at: http://www.cpearson.com/excel/pivots.htm MS has some at (xl2000 and xl2002): http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/XCrtPiv.aspx http://office.microsoft.com/assistan...lconPT101.aspx inquirer wrote: I have autofilter on a column and there are about 100 separate groups.
