Default Changing the Column Headers back to letters from #s

I am teaching a class and about half of the computers open up with column
headings as numbers and row headings as numbers and the other half has the
column headers as letters as it should be. I need to change the column
Headers back to the default letters what do I do?

Click TOOLS on the menu and select OPTIONS. Click the GENERAL tab and click
the check box under settings the says R1C1 REFERENCE STYLE
