Save changes?

Every time i open an Excel-file saved in an earlier version I get the same
question when closing the file:
Microsoft Office Excel recalculates the formulas when files, saved in
earlier versions of Excel are opened. Do you want to save.....

Is there any way to close this function so that the dialog box does not
appear every time?

Harald Staff

Not really, but why do you respond to it with a No everytime ? Save (or
select Yes) once, and it is not saved in an earlier version anymore.

HTH. Best wishes Harald

Lena_excel

That is a way to "get around" the problem but does not solve it, since all
files get new dates and I am quite depending on dates to keep track on files.
But if it is the only way, I have to live with that.

Jim Rech posted a registry tweak:
http://groups.google.com/groups?thre...GP11.phx .gbl

Maybe it'll work ok for you.

You live and you learn. Thanks Dave.
Is there a list of "not yet generated registry entries" like this anywhere ?

Best wishes Harald

Dave Peterson

I wait for Jim Rech to post and then keep a copy. And this question has come
up a few times since xl2003 came out so I knew I had saved this response.

I'm not sure how Jim knows this stuff, but I like to lurk behind his postings.

(I don't have a list.)

Save changes?

You can go back to the backup that you kept. If it was so important, you
will have the used the option for "always create backup" under "save as".
[If not, you will do next time, I'm sure.]
