I'm unable to type in any new data in an Excel file.
I'm having trouble modifying an Excel 2003 file. I opened the file and
attempted to enter new data in a spreadsheet. Perhaps I hit another button in the process....now I can't type anything into an excel file. Most of the menu options and control bar links are shaded as to disallow use. What did I do and how might I fix it???? |

Hi Summer
Where did the file come from ?? Is it a read only file, say on a CD ?? If it is on a CD you will have to copy it to your HD first, before you can make any changes to it. If you haven't made any changes already, close it and reopen and start again. HTH Michael "Summer" wrote: I'm having trouble modifying an Excel 2003 file. You state you can't type anything.
What happens when you try? Error message? Nothing? What if you open another workbook? Same problem? If not, perhaps your sheet has been protected. The grayed-out menu options are a hint to that. ToolsProtectionUnprotect sheet may help you. Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Thu, 29 Jun 2006 21:53:01 -0700, Summer wrote: I'm having trouble modifying an Excel 2003 file.
