If you want to remove the hyperlink, try Right-clicking the address you
want to deactivate, point to Hyperlink on the shortcut menu, and then
click Remove Hyperlink.

That setting won't affect any existing links. But it will stop any of your new
entries from converting to hyperlinks.

Removing email address links

I have many email addresses which I have already entered in a column. I
want them to be as text not hyperlinks.

some cells in that column are empty and some have email addresses I
want those emails (which are now hyperlinks) to be as text and those as
well which I enter later.
how could this be done?

You can select the range of cells that contain hyperlinks.

Then hit alt-f11 to get to the VBE
then hit ctrl-g to see the immediate window
type this and hit enter:
selection.hyperlinks.delete

You can select as many or as few cells as you want.
