How do I stop MS Excel from parsing html that I'm pasting in? Currently
I'm trying to paste in raw HTML code and it's reading the HTML and
formatting my input based on this (i.e. moving to the next row in teh
column whenever it encounters a < br ).

I don't fancy clicking into the edit box for each cell, as there's over
600, and it's too long to fit in a formula (900+ characters per cell).

Thanks.

What version of Excel are you using? I think they have fixed that problem in
Excel 2003. As for older versions, I'm not sure if they have a patch to fix
it.

How about pasting to notepad and then into the cell from Notepad.

To effect the same thing more seamlessly you can use PureText
at http://www.stevemiller.net/ click on Applications. This is what
I use and it is a tremendous time saver.

Don't forget to use Format, cells, alignment, word wrap so you
can use the width of the columns you want.

The later versions of Excel work better. I never had Excel 97 but
it was the first version to support HTML.

I guess I mean support HTML as in round tripping. There has always
been some manner of support for creating HTML files which is the
opposite of what you want.

Though it is not what I wanted to add, I have some more information in
Paste / Pasting. Cut & Paste
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/paste.htm

The page I was actually looking for that may be of interest to you is
Delete Cells/Rows in Range, based on empty cells, or cells with specific values
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/delempty.htm
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/code/delempty.txt
I used these a lot with Excel 95 and have used them occasionally
on Excel 2000 and Excel 2002, but pasting into Excel usually worked
fairly decently.
